While overall power sales and wholesale electricity prices have fallen, and disconnections and late fees have been blocked to help vulnerable customers, experts consider utility companies to carry less risk in the face of the pandemic compared to other industries. Rapidly transitioning to a clean electricity grid can save customers money and create hundreds of thousands of jobs. A recent report from the University of California, Berkeley and GridLab found a 90% clean electricity grid is possible by 2035.
