Research Expertise and Interest

freshwater ecology, biodiversity conservation, global change biology, Drought

Research Description

Albert Ruhi is an ecologist interested in how freshwater ecosystems are responding to global change. Work in his lab largely focuses on the effects of climate change and drought stress, using a combination of field experiments, monitoring, and modeling of hydrological and ecological data. Funded projects focus on advancing understanding of the ecological consequences of drying rivers, the potential of wetland restoration to recover ecosystem integrity, and how to mitigate the impacts that dams have on flow regimes and biodiversity in river networks.
