Heinz Frei, the acting director of the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP) at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory was recentlyfeatured in the San Francisco Chronicle. JCAP’s efforts focus on generating fuels from sunlight.

Frei began his career at UC Berkeley as a postdoctoral fellow. His research and that of his colleagues helped lay critical foundations for artificial photosynthesis. Notably, it allowed scientists to take advantage of a wider slice of the light spectrum to trigger chemical reactions.

The article in the San Francisco Chronicle is part of a series on climate change, titled "Taking the Heat." Read more.
