Risks of bioenergy underestimated, new report says

The net effect on climate of large-scale biofuels deployment is highly uncertain, and could actually lead to a net increase in greenhouse gas emissions, according to a new paper co-authored by UC Berkeley researchers. The authors argue for a more comprehensive risk assessment of bioenergy use so policymakers can make more informed decisions. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research has the story.
