The College of Chemistry is pleased to announce that Assistant Professor of Chemistry David Limmer, (Ph.D. ’13, Chem) has been awarded the 2022 Donald Sterling Noyce Prize for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.

Professor Arpad Horvath has been elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC). Membership "is to be conferred with care on those few, most qualified... to share this reservoir of expertise as a service to the nation." NAC members are recognized for their extensive and diverse expertise, proven leadership, and trusted judgement.

Merck KGaA, a leading science and technology company located in Darmstadt, Germany, has named John F. Hartwig, Henry Rapoport Professor of Chemistry at UC Berkeley as the seventeenth recipient of the Emanuel Merck Lectureship.

Andrew Dillin shared the 2022 Lurie Prize in Biomedical Sciences for work on the aging process. The prize, awarded annually by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), recognizes outstanding achievements by promising scientists aged 52 or younger. Dillin shared the prize with Anne Brunet of Stanford University, who conducts parallel work on aging.

Three UC Berkeley faculty are among this year’s 180 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellows. The prestigious awards recognize scholars with impressive achievements in fields ranging from the natural sciences to the creative arts.

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest scientific and educational computing society, has awarded UC Berkeley professor Pieter Abbeel the 2021 ACM Prize in Computing for his foundational work in robot learning.

Paul Pierson, an influential UC Berkeley scholar and author focused on the challenges confronting American democracy, has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Science (AAPSS).

Four UC Berkeley assistant professors have been awarded a Sloan Research Fellowship, one of the most prestigious honors given to early-career scientific researchers.

CS Assistant Prof. Avishay Tal has been selected as a 2022 Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow in Computer Science.   This award recognizes outstanding early-career faculty for their "potential to revolutionize their fields of study."
