Yunqing Tang

Research Bio

Yunqing Tang is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics.  She received her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2016. Her research is in arithmetic geometry and number theory. Her main interest lies in studying the arithmetic of abelian varieties, modular forms, and irrationality of certain p-adic or classical periods.

Physicist Benjamin Safdi and mathematician Yunqing Tang, both associate professors, won 2026 New Horizons awards from the Breakthrough Prize for their work on dark matter detection and number theory, respectively.
