Research Description
Victoria Frede is an associate professor in the Department of History. Areas of interest include Russian intellectual history, more specifically the history of the ideal of friendship and the history of doubt and atheism. More generally, Russian sociability in the eighteenth and nineteenth century; cross-cultural connections between Russia, Germany, and France from the Enlightenment to Romanticism. Outside teaching interests include the history of socialism and the history of foodways.
