Research Bio
Ozlem Ayduk is a social and personality psychologist whose research investigates self-regulation, emotion, and interpersonal processes. She is best known for her work on delay of gratification, emotion regulation, and rejection sensitivity, examining how individuals manage emotions and goals across contexts. Ayduk’s research integrates experimental psychology, longitudinal studies, and psychophysiology to understand how cognitive and emotional mechanisms shape behavior and well-being. Her work has implications for education, relationships, and mental health interventions.
She is Professor of Psychology at UC Berkeley. Her research has been published in Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Science, and Emotion. Ayduk has received recognition from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology for her contributions to self-regulation research. At Berkeley, she teaches personality psychology, emotion regulation, and close relationships, mentoring students in personality, motivation, and social cognition.
