Research Description

Ozlem Ayduk is a social-personality psychologist whose current research interests center around 4 key themes:  emotion regulation and its role in well-being; social-cognitive and affective processes that explain functioning in romantic relationships; development of self-control in children and its implications for long-term outcomes; and mechanisms that explain attitude extremity in intergroup contexts and ways to combat ideological polarization. Her research utilizes a multi-method approach such as laboratory experiments, longitudinal studies, and experience sampling designs, examining behavior through direct observation, self-report surveys, and implicit and physiological measurements.
