Research Description
Michael Nylan is a professor in the Department of History. Her research interests include early China, the seven centuries of warring states through eastern Han (475 BC-AD 220), with an emphasis on the sociopolitical context; aesthetic theories and material culture; and belief. She received her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, her M.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and her Ph.D from Princeton University.
