Research Expertise and Interest
operator algebras, free probability theory, random matrices, K-theory of operator algebras, single operator theory
Research Description
Dan-Virgil Voiculescu is a professor in the Department of Mathematics. Research focus: Free probability is a probabilistic framework adapted to quantities with the highest degree of noncommutativity. The theory has applications to von Neumann algebras and to the large N limit of random multimatrix models.
