Research Description
Anthony Cascardi works on literature and philosophy, aesthetics, and early modern literature, with an emphasis on Spanish, English, and French. He holds joint appointments in Comparative Literature, Rhetoric, and Spanish and Portuguese. His books include The Subject of Modernity, The Consequences of Enlightenment, Cervantes, Literature, and the Discourse of Politics, and The Cambridge Introduction to Literature and Philosophy. His most recently published book is Francisco de Goya and the Art of Critique. Cascardi is the Sidney and Margaret Ancker Distinguished Professorship in the Humanities and a faculty member of U.C. Berkeley's Program in Critical Theory. He serves as the academic editor for the Cambridge University Press Studies in Literature and Philosophy.
