Research Bio
Jacob Yates is an assistant professor of optometry and vision science. His research focuses on how populations of neurons in cortex infer structure in the visual world. His lab develops and uses machine learning models to understand neural activity and perception, with a focus on how active sampling and embodiment (e.g., through eye movements) contributes to learned representations.
