Research Bio

Jason Wittenberg is a professor in the Department of Political Science. His current research consists of two strands. One is on democratic backsliding among seemingly stable democracies, with a focus on Eastern Europe. The other is a critical examination of how social scientists conceptualize and measure historical persistence. He employs methods ranging from comparative historical analysis to large-N statistics and survey experiments.
