Margaret Chowning (Stanford, 1985). Professor and Head Graduate Advisor. Primary field is Latin America. Interests: Mexico, Gender and Women, Political Economy. Published Catholic Women and Mexican Politics, 1750-1940 in January 2023 (Princeton University Press). Current project: the penetration of liberal values and the impact of liberal policies in Mexican cities in the nineteenth century.
