Research Bio

Jon Wilkening is a professor in the Department of Mathematics. His research group at UC Berkeley and LBNL develops high-order numerical algorithms to study the dynamics of water waves, viscoelastic materials, mode-locked lasers, degenerate diffusion equations, and kinetic equations using orthogonal polynomials, asymptotic expansions, rational approximations and other tools from approximation theory.
