literature and the visual arts, Wittgenstein, Modern American poetry, contemporary American poetry, history of aesthetic philosophy
Research Description
I have written books on twentieth century American poetry, on aesthetic topics, and on literature and the visual arts. My two most recent books are on Wallace Stevens and the challenges of modernity and how literary criticism might learn from Wittgenstein. I am now working on how Modern constructivist artists and writers adapt Hegel's ideal of inner sensuousness.
