Research Description

Catherine Gallagher's most recent book (The Body Economic: Life, Death, and Sensation in Political Economy and the Victorian Novel) explores the common biological ideas about value that informed both economic and literary discourses in nineteenth-century Britain. She is currently researching two topics: 1)nineteenth-century British slave-trade suppression, and 2)the popularity of twentieth-century alternate-history narratives.
