The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research provides a wide range of services, including budgetary and financial consulting; training; audit coordination; exceptional approvals; PRT management; BFS/BAIRS access approval; and assistance with planning for campus-wide financial initiatives and processes. Research Enterprise Services (RES) provides administrative services to specific research units on the Berkeley campus, under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for Research. In November 2009 a review committee comprised of faculty and administrators was convened by the Vice Chancellor for Research to help review and enhance the services offered by campus units that support the campus research infrastructure, including RES.
