Research Description

Candace “Candi” Yano holds the Gary & Sherron Kalbach Chair in Business Administration and is a Professor of Operations and Information Technology Management. She is also a Professor in UC Berkeley’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) and holds the Morris Chang Distinguished Professorship in the Management of Technology Innovation. She served as Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from 1995 through 2001 and as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Chair of the Faculty of the Haas School of Business from 2016 through June 2019.

Yano’s primary research interests are production, inventory and logistics management, as well as interdisciplinary problems involving manufacturing and marketing.  She has also worked on projects with non-profit organizations including hospital systems and consortia of research libraries.  She has served on the editorial boards of numerous major journals and her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and a variety of private companies.  She is a Fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE).
