Bakar Fellows Program
The Bakar Fellows Program enhances the efforts of UC Berkeley’s world-class faculty to translate important scientific discoveries into practical solutions in the fields of Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and in multidisciplinary work in these areas.
Early career faculty members selected as Bakar Fellows each receive discretionary research support for a maximum of five years. In addition, the Fellows will become part of and contribute to an ecosystem that brings together faculty, post-docs, students, staff and alumni to form a strong network that assists researchers in introducing their discoveries to the market.
This program will initially support four cohorts of early career faculty whose research shows commercial promise. Each cohort consists of several faculty working in areas with a high likelihood of contributing to California’s economy.
