Bakar Fellows Program
The Bakar Fellows Program at UC Berkeley fosters the entrepreneurship of early career-stage faculty in the STEM+ fields including Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Architecture.
The program now supports 21 early career faculty. Bakar Fellows each receive discretionary research support for a maximum of five years to help translate their ground-breaking discoveries into practical solutions and contribute to Berkeley's entrepreneurial ecosystem. To date, the Bakar Fellows have formed five startup companies with nearly $50M in seed and Angel funding.
